“Forterra became aware of FitBack after an industry trade association event and recognised that pro-active physiotherapy support could be something our colleagues would benefit from. We trialled the process at our largest site, which also happens to have a significant amount of manual handling tasks where aches and pains could be prevalent. After a successful trial there and positive feedback from our colleagues, we extended the services of FitBack so we now have on-site clinics based on three of our larger operations and access to the wider network clinics for our more remote sites.

Our colleagues have been very positive about the business providing this benefit to them, the fact it is a pro-active intervention that we can utilise before pain becomes an issue that affects their work and homelife, keeping them fit, healthy, productive and comfortable. It helps us with employee engagement and also helps maintain people in productive work, improving our absence rate as well.

The clinics run very smoothly, with managers able to refer colleagues in to them with little effort. As a result, we manage to keep our utilisation rates high and where we do find time available because treatments are up to date, the FitBack team will walk the sites, talk to colleagues about how they work, actions they can take to prevent musculoskeletal harm and advise management on improvement that could be made to improve safety, health and wellbeing. Where colleagues use the wider network, referrals via the portal are easy to set up and are responded to quickly, so treatment never takes long to facilitate. On the occasional times it is necessary, it has been easy to link the FitBack services with those of our Occupational Health Provider.
