FitBack & Bumps

FitBack & Bumps offer ante and post natal classes that have been designed to advise and educate mums and mums-to-be. These classes will help to exercise, control and strengthen ‘core’ stability and pelvic floor muscles. They aim to alleviate or prevent pelvic and lower back pain that can be associated with pregnancy. Whether you suffer from back pain, or you just want to experience a healthier pregnancy and speedy recovery, then FitBack & Bumps can help.

Your body experiences many physiological and postural changes during pregnancy. Due to the release of pregnancy hormones and the increasing weight of your growing baby, your body shape is constantly changing. This can lead to stress being put on muscles, ligaments and joints. It is therefore not uncommon to experience back or pelvic pain at some point during your pregnancy.

The FitBack & Bumps ante and post natal classes consist of exercises designed to focus on your posture and how to tone and condition the abdominal, spinal and pelvic floor muscles. A strong ‘central core’ of muscles will act to brace the spine and pelvis to support the extra weight of your baby and provide stability to the joints. A strong and efficient pelvic floor provides continuous support to the uterus and helps to reduce weakening and stretching of the pelvic floor during and after pregnancy. Exercises are a combination of floor and Gym Ball work and the classes are run by Chartered Physiotherapist specially trained in the FitBack & Bumps programme.
